I love painting.
Painting is process for me: first I find something-a landscape, a still-life, colors, lights and darks that excite me. Once I commit I set up my materials (everything I’ll need is easily accessible) with intention. I rely on my seriousness and organization skills. Every movement in the painting process has meaning; is purposeful. Because painting is a serious thing to me.
I would define painting as telling the truth.
I keep working examining the subject, seeing. I want to tell, through movement, color and shapes, lights and darks, a story-my goal is to give you what I am seeing and feeling in the moment in every stroke. I keep fixing-amending and pushing myself inching closer to that goal.
Right now I am working with gorgeous Sennelier acrylics. The colors are immense thick and vibrant. I can use them like I would oils, sometimes with no water at all and using beautiful materials adds to the piece.
The entire process from beginning to end is intense excitement problem-solving and focus. I enjoy this process immensely.
